RICHMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT NEW! Enrichment Skill Building Courses, Grades 8-9
This program is designed for current grade 8 and 9 students who meet the following criteria:
• have taken the course during the regular 2022/2023 school year
• their competency is emerging or low developing (62% or less)
• (students with ‘proficient’ may benefit more from taking a Preview Enrichment Course)
• would like to strengthen their skills in the course
• Skill Building courses are 40 hours in duration and will focus on the understanding of key big ideas and competencies and will NOT cover the entire scope of courses.
• Students completing the course will receive an assessment using the proficiency scales (this will not include a percent or letter grade)
• Students will need to bring in a copy of their report cards on the first day to help us identify which students will be taking this course as part of their plan to support to resolve an “I” standing.

RICHMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT Summer Connections
A program for new grade 8’s Summer Connections 2023 is designed to welcome, engage and connect current Grade 7 students to their secondary school and key staff members in preparation for September. Academic focus of Summer Connections needs to be in the areas of Grade 8 numeracy and English literacy and BC Core competencies (Critical Thinking, Communication and Personal and Social).
